The two-month circuit breaker in 2020 saw businesses offering non-essential services adopted work-from-home arrangements in a bid to keep COVID-19 under control.

To help staff stay digitally connected to the job, Singapore Government Staff Credit Co-operative (SGS Credit Co-op) tapped on the Productivity Solutions under the CCF Development Grant to procure laptops and routers for frontline staff working from home. Such move had enabled the staff to switch to remote working effectively so as to continue to serve members seamlessly.

The Productivity Solutions supports the adoption of technology solutions, and equipment. Other qualifying expenses that co-operatives can apply for under CCF Development Grant include Facilities Enhancement, Professional Services, Salary (full time accountant), and Digital, Social Media and Other Marketing Expenses.

Co-operator caught up with Mr Dennis Ramesh, Manager, Operations of SGS Credit Co-op to find out more.

Q:              How did the Productivity Solutions help improve your business operations?
Dennis:      The CCF Grants are tremendously useful, and this is especially so during today’s trying times. For example, the Productivity Solutions helped our co-operative to defray capital expenditure costs.  It provides co-funding at 80%.

Q:              Can you share your experience in applying for the grant?
Dennis:      The application process was seamless and easy. Previously, we could face issues like incomplete documentation. Now, it is a one-stop service as the fields in the excel spreadsheet would be auto populated once we fill in the required information. In addition, the list of documentation accompanying the application is clearly stated.

Indeed, the CCF Development Grant is available on a yearly basis to help co-operatives enhance their capabilities, governance, and operational efficiency. Apart from CCF Development Grant, co-operatives can also utilise the following grants:
  1. CCF Training Grant provides funding of courses, seminars and conferences to help co-operative officers improve their knowledge and learn relevant skills for the running of their co-operative.
  2. CCF Special Grants provide co-funding for specific schemes and projects such as legal services grant, outsourced internal audit grant, minimum competency training grant, and the PDPA grant that co-funds PDPA-related expenditure, such as training, consultancy, audit, legal advice and DPTM expenses.
