HOW TO STAY SAFE WHILE RECEIVING VISITORS AT HOME THIS CNY 2022

If you or your family are expecting visitors over, it is important to practice social responsibility to keep everyone safe. Read on to find out what you can do at home to maintain a safe Chinese New Year 2022 celebration.

GOING OUT? DO YOUR ART TESTS

Before you head out for your visitations, you should do your due diligence and do your antigen rapid test (ART) tests. These tests are easy to administer and there are information sheets to guide you. All you need to do is a clean nose, 15 minutes, and an ART self-test kit. Look out for the negative sign – that is the single line – before you head out. Fortunately, many Singaporeans have made their purchases and we hope you have too.

STICK TO ONE VISIT A DAY

We know this sounds horrible, but you are advised to limit your visitations to one family a day. On the bright side, you and your family do not have to rush around to visit all your extended relatives. All these give you even more opportunities to spend more time with your loved ones. If all else fails, you can consider hosting a Zoom party instead!

RECEIVE NO MORE THAN FIVE VISITORS A DAY

Five is the magic number for this year’s CNY pax visitation limit. The key here is to strategise and plan ahead. Plus, five people is more than sufficient to play a few rounds of MJ or any other board games.

SANITISE & WASH HANDS

When your visitors arrive, direct them to the washroom and have them clean their hands and feet! Make sure they do so with soap and water! You should also make sure there are hand sanitisers around or disinfectant wipes to clean the surfaces! Remember to clean the area when your guests leave.

VENTILATE, SPACE OUT, VENTILATE

To be on the safer side, make sure your visitors are seated apart from one another. Rethink the location of your sofas and chairs and if you are all dining, consider staggering mealtimes. Most importantly, it would be wise to switch off the air-conditioning and turn on the fan. Open your windows and ensure open ventilation.

SKIP THE STEAMBOAT

We know steamboat is a CNY must-have, but we recommend avoiding it to reduce the risks of cross-contamination. Avoid putting on a huge snack display (we know your love for pineapple tarts is inseparable) and serve food individually. To better facilitate this, consider using disposable cutleries and plates.
