(Representatives from our local co-ops giving out food to the homeless in Denver)

We were at the World Council of Credit Unions conference in Denver from July 12 to July 15 with a couple of representatives from our local co-operatives. SNCF was privileged to host the dinner and when we saw that there was some food leftover, we packed them into boxes and walked the streets as one Singapore co-operative movement, passing the food to the homeless.

SNCF was present on 13 July 2015 for The Good Life Co-operative Limited's launch of The Wellness Bus Programme at Serangoon Country Club. The Wellness Bus seeks to provide full health assessments for 800 seniors, immunisation for 2,000 seniors and bring health literacy to about 10,000 seniors.

IG Workshop

(Participants for the workshop doing the C symbol – for Co-operative!)

As part of our fourth Co-op Hot Shots photography competition, we organized an Instagram Photography workshop on Saturday, 4 July 2015 in partnership with InstaSG – a group of Instagrammers – and National Youth Council (NYC). As this is the first year we will be having an Instagram category, the workshop’s aim was to give our participants a few tips on how to make their Instagram photos better.

One of our Campus & Youth team's newest initiatives is to get youths involved in volunteer work with co-operatives through our Community Outreach Programme. Yesterday afternoon, we accompanied a group of students from Shuqun Secondary School to SASCO Integrated Eldercare Centre in West Coast.

The girls were a little hesitant at first but after an ice-breaker session of musical "passing the ball", they became more confident and were actively singing songs and playing games with the old folks.

When their teacher Ms Thila said it was time to go, she was met with a round of "Nooos" from the girls. They were enjoying themselves so much that thought they had lost all track of time!

From the smiles on the faces of the elderly there, we could tell they were happy with the visit as well. It definitely won't be the last time the girls pay a visit to the centre.

The SASCO Integrated Eldercare Centre was set up on 11 April 2015 to offer a suite of services for the elderly such as dementia care and community rehabilitation. The suite of services include assistance with showering and eating as well as nursing care. Depending on their needs, the elderly clients will also have personalised care plans designed by the centre to improve their functional abilities.

At the heart of every co-operative is the motivation to do good for the community. SASCO is one such co-operative. To find out more, do visit

The Co-operative Journey Wall made its way to Paya Lebar Methodist Girls' School on Tuesday, 30 June 2015 and we were there to answer any questions the students had. The girls were a lively bunch (commenting that our wall had too much text) but were diligently walking around the exhibition looking for answers to the questions we had prepared for them.

Introducing the Co-op Wefie! The next time an SNCF staff visits your co-op, you might receive a strange request from him or her to take a group picture – don’t be shy!
