Industrial & Services Co-operative Society Ltd (ISCOS) is doing its part to fulfil the United Nation’s (UN) sustainable development goal (SDG) of providing quality education for the people. This includes collaborating with various foundations, corporate partners and affiliates to disburse bursaries and study grants to students of different education levels.

Parliamentary Secretary of the
Ministry of Home Affairs and Health,
speaking at the ISCOS Bursary
Award ceremony.

The ISCOS Bursary Award ceremony held at the MDIS Auditorium on 22 December 2017 saw 133 students being presented with bursary awards totalling close to $40,000, in recognition of their academic achievements. Guest-of-Honour Mr Amrin Amin, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Health, called for the recipients to remember the opportunities they had received and to give back to society.

The ISCOS Bursary Award is an initiative under the Yellow Ribbon Fund-ISCOS Fairy Godparent Programme, which assists children of offenders and ex-offenders from low-income families by way of education. Through this programme, students with commendable results during the school term in 2017 were presented bursaryawards – fully sponsored by Lee Foundation – that range from $200 to $500 each. Book grants were also given to students who have shown good progress in their studies.

In addition, ISCOS also recognised the maiden batch of recipients of the Tan Ean Kiam-Yellow Ribbon Fund-ISCOS Bursary Award. Sponsored by Tan Ean Kiam Foundation, the award supports beneficiaries who have received offers from local polytechnics and Institute of Technical Education but lack the financial means to pursue their tertiary education.
